Joan’s Obituary
Bowser, Joan Marie – 54, Bedford / Pugwash, passed away unexpectedly at the Cobequid Community Health Centre in Sackville, Nova Scotia on Thursday, August 13, 2020. Born on August 14, 1965 in Pugwash, Nova Scotia, Joan was the daughter of Mae (nee Sarson) Bowser, Pugwash and the late Myron Bowser. Besides her mother she is survived by her partner of 11 years, Karl Schermerhorn, son Jeffrey Lawless; daughters, Jennifer Lawless, and Jillian Warren (Kyle) all from her marriage to Jerry Lawless; her younger brother, Steven Bowser; grandchildren, Destiny and Elaine Lawless, Ethan and Mia Warren. Besides her father Myron, she was predeceased by a brother and sister in infancy, paternal grandparents, Bert and Flossie (Allen) Bowser, maternal grandparents, Ray and Belle (Ross-Geddes) Sarson. Joan was born and raised in Pugwash, working at the Seagull Pewter for 12 years, only leaving in 2000 when she moved to Halifax. She worked in the real estate field doing property management and was excellent with numbers and math. She loved to spoil her children and enjoyed random adventures with her daughters and shopping trips. She loved to spoil and spend time with her grandchildren and going to the beach with Ethan and Mia. She was funny and loved a good joke but was also a hard worker, dedicated, caring and kind person. She loved watching Coronation Street and The Ellen Show. She also loved a good game of scrabble with her mother and daughters, where she would joke that her mother was cheating. Joan & #39’s favourite seasons were summer and fall, in the summer she always looked forward to some fresh local strawberries. She loved spending time in Lunenburg exploring the shops and spending time with Karl at their trailer, sitting by the campfire and feeding their little raccoon friend. To those who knew her, the fact that Joan had a raccoon friend is not surprising. She was an animal lover and mom to her cat, Bizz, also known as Mr. B. Joan loved her family and friends and they loved her. She will be sorely missed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mundle’s Funeral Home, Pugwash. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, at the Palmerston Cemetery, Pugwash. Those attending are asked to observe COVID-19 regulations by wearing a face mask and maintaining social distancing. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the funeral home website at www.mmcfunerals.com
