Obituary for Danial Newton Evans
January 2, 1947 – July 20, 2020
On Monday, July 20, 2020, Danial Evans, resident of 4th Avenue, New Westminster, B.C., passed away suddenly at age 73, and will be sadly missed by those who love him.
Dan was born on January 2, 1947 in Halifax, Nova Scotia to David and Marie (née Legassie) Evans. He joined the military in 1964. He met and married Linda Briggs while stationed in Gagetown, NB. Later they moved to Europe, where Dan served at Lahr, Germany and in the U.N. Peacekeeping force in Cyprus.
Dan moved to B.C. in the 80’s and worked briefly as a car salesman, and ultimately found a fulfilling career in security at two prestigious hotels in downtown Vancouver. He retired in 2015 shortly after moving to New Westminster where he spent the remaining years of his life. He was known for his quick wit and infectious smile. He loved to tell stories of a rather eventful life and make people laugh. In terms of hobbies, Dan had a passion for working with wood, and he did this most of his life, creating lawn furniture and other pieces. He also enjoyed a good game of chess with various friends along the way.
Dan was predeceased by his father, David, and his mother, Marie. He is survived by his best friend, Eileen, one sister, Marcie Thibodeau of Rothesay, NB, a brother, Mark Evans (Erin) of Rowley, his son, David (Lisa), his daughter Kelly (Malcolm), and one granddaughter, Amber, all of Moncton, NB. A memorial service will be held before summer’s end.
