HITCHEN John W 1963-

February 18, 1963 – July 25, 2020
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John William Hitchen on the 25th of July at the age of 57. John passed away at home surrounded by his family. John fought a hard battle against cancer for the last 15 months. We had hoped for a miracle, but it was not to be.
John leaves to mourn his wife Rachel of almost 23 years. John was a devoted Dad to sons, Keegan (Katie) and Nicholas and daughter Sara. John was the beloved son of Guelda and the late Robert Hitchen, little brother to Doug and Christine (Paul). Fondly remembered by mother-in-Law Rosemary Doughty, brother-in-law Paul (Dawn), sister-in-law Vikki Hitchen and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
John was an amazing hockey coach for HRS for many years. He would head coach one child’s team and assist on the other two. John also coached soccer with the St Lazare – Hudson Soccer Club for many summers.
John was happiest when spending time at Charleston Lake with the family, the canoe and a fishing rod, or on the ice with his skates, stick and the kids. John was a die-hard Mustang car enthusiast, having owned many over the years, the older models of course! His favorite being his black ’65 fastback.
An outdoor celebration of John’s life will be held in Campbellford at John’s aunt’s cottage, for family and friends, on Saturday August 22, 2020.
The family is extremely grateful for the kind and compassionate care that John received from CLSC Dr. Terret-Hans and NOVA nurses Wanda and Anna Maria. These three amazing angels on earth, allowed us to keep John at home.
Donations to NOVA Hudson in John’s memory would be greatly appreciated.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of HITCHEN John W 1963-..
