Obituary
Andrew Surkon passed away peacefully in Salmon Arm, BC on July 30, 2020 at the age of 88 years.
Andrew, the 10th of 15 children, was born in Stenen, SK in 1932 to Samuel and Mary Zurkan. He served in the peace keeping corps in Germany with the PPCLI. During the early years building his construction company, Andrew worked in Northern Alberta, NWT, and the Yukon to support his growing family. Along with his construction company, he and Denise had a hobby farm near Pigeon Lake, AB which was Andrew’s true love and calling. On his quarter section he harvested barley and enjoyed snowmobiling during the winter. Later Andrew and Denise bought their retirement property on Mara Lake, BC. This is where he enjoyed boating, quading, snowmobiling and being with his grandchildren.
Andrew is remembered by Denise, his loving wife of 60 years; his sons Ken (Lori), and Kelly (Darlene); his daughter Carrie Cline (Peter); as well as 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Craig, his granddaughter Desiree, and all but one sibling.
