Simon’s Obituary
PLYMOUTH – Simon Fraser Campbell, 79, Plymouth, passed away Thursday, July 30, 2020, doing what he loved, working on his wood lot.
Born in Blue Mountain, he was a son of the late John Thomas and Marion Ethel (Fraser) Campbell. Simon was an educator, having taught at East Pictou Rural High School for 35 years until retirement in 1994. An integral part of his career was coaching various sports and mentoring students. Following retirement, he was able to devote more time to his passion – working his land. Simon was a devoted Montreal Canadiens fan and an avid NASCAR fan, always cheering for the Earnhardt’s, Dale and Junior. In earlier years, he was a co-owner of Mountain Raceway, Fraser’s Mountain. Simon was a forward thinking, determined, hardworking man who always did his best for his family.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Elaine (Chisholm); daughters, Maria (Christopher) Caines, Halifax; Wendy Stroud, Hammonds Plains; son, Dan (Susan) Campbell, Fraser’s Mountain; son-in-law, Brian Stroud, Fort Saskatchewan, Alta.; grandchildren, Rachael, Daniel, Morghen and Mason; sister, Margaret (Jeff) Avent, Orangeville, Ont.; brothers, Colin (Carol) Campbell, Caribou River; Doug Campbell, Valley View Villa, Riverton; Paul (Debbie) Campbell, Brampton, Ont.; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Dan.

His family will celebrate his life privately. Interment will be in Sunny Brae Cemetery.
