Obituary
It is with great sadness the family of Doreen Estella Smith announce her peacefully passing at Shannex Embassy Hall on Monday July 27th, 2020. Born August 25, 1932 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Freda (Provan) Kilpatrick. Following high school she attended Atlantic Bible Institute Lakeside, NB. Was former member of Kingsway Assembly, Bethany Pentecostal Church and Kings Valley Assembly. While attending university at the age 18, Doreen had terrible fall which prevented her from following her dream to be a missionary. Despite her unexpected career path from missionary to Floral Designer for Maritime Gardens; her faith never wavered. Her love and faith in the Lord carried her through her 87 years. Doreen is survived by her close friend who was much like her daughter Marlene Jenkins and her family; sisters Thelma Tays and Pauline Haslett (Bill) both of Saint John; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Along with her parents, Doreen was predeceased by her husband Morris Smith, brothers-in-law Harold Smith, Ernest Tays and Allison Coates; nephew Eldon Smith; niece Karla Tays-Dunphy and most recently her close friend Harold Jenkins.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) Visitation will be held on Tuesday August 4, 2020 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel immediately following the visitation. Due to the Covid 19 Restrictions social distancing is required and mask are recommended. Following the funeral service interment will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers or donations, the family request that remembrances be made in the form of doing a good deed for someone in need.
