1928-2020
Millicent Emily “Millie” Redden (nee
Dale) – Age 92, of Berwick, NS. Born
March 5, 1928 in Botsford Parish, Port Elgin, NB, she passed away
peacefully on July 20, 2020 at Shannex Orchard Court, Kentville, NS.
Millie was the daughter of her late parents, Charles Norman Dale and
Francis Anne Dale (nee Foord). She taught at several schools in Kings
County, NS, and retired from her last and longest teaching position at
the Somerset & District Elementary School with over 30 years
of teaching service. She was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church.
Millie enjoyed bowling, cross country skiing, bicycling, doing
puzzles, crafts, and knitting. She especially enjoyed spending time
with her children and many grandchildren. Millie is survived by a
sister, Hilda Milhomme, Montreal, Quebec; son, Ken (Mary) Redden, Shaw
Rd., Somerset; daughter, Mary (Blaine) Draper, Riverview, NB; son Bill
(Pauline) Redden, Wolfville NS. Millie is also lovingly remembered by
her grandchildren, Matthew (Tracey) Redden, Shaw Rd., Luke (Candace)
Redden, Somerset, Erin (Matt MacKinnon) Draper, Montreal, Thomas
(Kaylon Fraser) Redden, Halifax, Liam (Julie Emeneau) Redden, Halifax,
Megan (Damian Dyke) Crosby, Moncton and Danielle (Scott) Oxner,
Hantsport; as well as 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great
great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Millie was predeceased
by her husband, Lorimer Gordon Redden and her youngest daughter,
Carolyn “Joan” Crosby (nee Redden), four brothers, Norman,
Stanley, John and Robert, as well as two sisters, Mrs. Kaye Goodwin
and Mrs. Mae Chapman. Cremation has taken place and arrangements have
been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville. No visitation will occur. Due to the Covid pandemic, an
invitation only funeral service will be held in the White Family
Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Evan Colford officiating. A video webcast
of the service will be available at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 25,
2020 and can be accessed on-line at www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com. A
private family interment will follow at the Berwick Cemetery. Family
flowers only. Donations in her name may be made to the Berwick Baptist
Church, Muscular Dystrophy Canada, or a charity of one’s
choice.
