Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our loving mother, nana, sister, aunt and wife of 53 years on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
Susan leaves behind to forever miss her, her loving husband and best friend, Alf; daughter Marilyn; son, Eric; grandchildren, Maya, Paige and Sawyer; siblings, Kathryn and Don; as well as many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Anne and Ernest and brother, Jim.
Susan and Alf met in Dundas, Ontario at a Tall Club Dance. Alf spotted Susan sitting across the room and knew she was ‘the one’ for him. They were married on August 19, 1967 and moved to BC shortly thereafter.
Susan lived in Port Alberni and worked for the BC Assessment Authority for 8 years before taking a step away from her career to raise her beloved children. Later, her career changed direction and she worked with the Parksville & District Home Support team for 12 years.
A resident of Parksville for 43 years, Susan enjoyed travelling with her husband, coffee dates with her friends, and spending cherished time with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all those whose life she touched.
The family would like to thank the health care workers that provided care for Susan, and their extraordinary kindness to her husband during a most difficult time.
The family will hold a celebration to honour Susan’s life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Susan’s name to the BC SPCA.
