Bryce Erickson Wednesday July 8th 2020

With sadness, family and friends of Bryce Erickson announce his passing on July 8, 2020. In recent years, Bryce had struggled with a variety of health issues.
Bryce was born in North Battleford to Roland (John) and Vivian (Alexander) Erickson on May 12th, 1948. At an early age, he moved to Saskatoon where the family added another son Lester. Bryce attended Queen Elizabeth School and later Aden Bowman Collegiate. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Art/History. Bryce worked in the Library at The University of Saskatchewan in the mid 70’s. In later years he worked at the University of Saskatchewan for Dr. William Sarjeant in the Geology Department as well as communications positions at the Saskatchewan Research Council, SIAST, and the College of Medicine at the University. In 1979 Bryce married Mary Dykes a fellow library employee. Bryce retired in 2006 to devote his time to painting and printmaking.
In 2011, Bryce relocated to Watrous where he found a wonderful, welcoming Art Community. Bryce was very happy there and made several good friends for which he was very grateful. As an artist he seemed to flourish in the community and despite health issues, continued with his artwork until his passing.
Bryce was a very talented pianist and a skilled woodworker creating many picture frames, easels, and desktops. He liked to cook traditional meals – his Ginger Apricot Pecan Fruitcake was a Christmas favourite. Bryce liked animals especially cats. A portrait of Larry the cat has hung in his living room for many years.
Bryce leaves behind many friends who were like family to him. He is also survived by cousins Gloria, Sharon and Cheryl and former wife Mary. He is predeceased by his parents and brother Lester and cousin Donald.
Bryce was a unique individual – a talented, humble artist. He was the Erickson “historian” and had a fascination with old things. He lived a simple life, content with what he had. May he Rest in Peace.
Due to COVID-19 Restrictions A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Gallery on 3rd Ave. E., Watrous, Saskatchewan at a later date. Interment to follow.
