Obituary
Middleton, Richard Luther
December 15, 1938 – June 27, 2020
With great sadness the family and friends of Dick Middleton mourn his passing. He was predeceased by parents Earl and Laura. Left to mourn are his wife Sheila Nickols, children Christopher and Sophia, grand-daughter Juliana, sister-in-law Deborah James, siblings Vernon, Euna, Sharon, Don and Margareth.
Born in Kinistino Saskatchewan, his family moved to Hammond, BC, where he attended elementary and High School. After attending UBC he became an Industrial Arts teacher. His first position was at Prince Rupert, then Port Alberni, where he met his first wife Sheila James. They moved to Abbotsford, where their two children were born. At High School he organised the popular Hell or High Water hiking club.
The family moved to Pitt Meadows, where he began pig farming, later cranberry growing. He loved to host parties and family gatherings there. He travelled widely, to Britain, the Greek Isles, Tonga, Cuba, Haida Gwaii and Ashland. He enjoyed the wilderness, camping and car trips. He enjoyed reading, especially science fiction, and tv sports. Dick owned a series of dogs most of his life. He enjoyed live and recorded music, from rock to jazz and classical. He was a collector of west coast aboriginal art. A truly generous person, he loved to be busy and helpful.
The family is grateful for the care he received at Holyrood Manor, Oceanside Hospital and Mckenny Creek Hospice.
Memorial donations would be gratefully received by the Katzie Cultural Education Society.
A service of remembrance will be held at a later date.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Richard Luther Middleton June 27 2020..
