Esther May Monk 1934 2020

Obituary of Esther May Monk
It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, Esther May Monk, 86 of Kingston on June 28, 2020 in the Grand View Manor. Born January 14, 1934 in Kentville, she was the daughter of the late Avery and Evelyn (Sanford) McDow.
Esther worked as a nurse’s aid in the Berwick Hospital for many years, and even in the Grand View Manor, she would follow the staff around trying to help other residents. She also worked as a Sales Associate at Nova Gold Smith’s, Kingsville, ON where she helped design lovely jewelery pieces. Esther loved to knit and donated hundreds of mittens to the needy.
Esther will always be remembered as a caring and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her eight grandchildren and ten great-grandmother.
Esther is survived by her children Shelly Foster, Greenwood; Glen (Jill) Monk, Es, ON; Bonnie (Al) Spinney, Kingston; and sister Judy McDow.
Besides her parents, Esther was predeceased by her husband Harold G. Monk; son-in-law David E. Foster; brothers Edward McDow and Oliver McDow; sister Leona (McDow) Atwell.
The family would like to thank Allison Hebb for always looking out for her Little Buddy (Esther), with all her visits and phone calls. The famly would also like to thank the staff at Grand View Manor, for all their care, compassion and kindness shown to Esther during her stay.
A private family interment will take place in the North Kingston Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
