Cecilia (Celia) T. U. Lepper (nee Smith), 92, beloved wife of Maurice G.S. Lepper, died on July 3, 2020 in Canmore, Alberta after surviving many years with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).
Celia, born in Chester, U.K. on March 19, 1928, is the daughter of
Dr. Vincent Smith and Hope Ussher Smith. She married Maurice on December 3,1955 and the newly-married couple moved to Calgary, arriving in a snowstorm on May 1, 1956. After 32 years in Calgary,
Celia and Maurice retired to Shawnigan Lake, B.C., returning to Alberta and settling in Canmore in 2005.
Celia is survived by Maurice and her children Eric (Joanne), Ian (Cathy), Claire (George), Frances (Jim) and Paul (Lori), her grandchildren Elizabeth, Melissa (Doug), Leah (Connor), Scott (Jennifer), Timothy (Rachelle), Joel, Erika, Annie and Angus and her great-grandchildren Morgan, Simon, Sophie, Callum and Evelyn.
The family offers profound gratitude to Dr. Michael Quinlan of Canmore and Dr. Charlene Fell (Interstitial Lung Disease Clinic, Calgary South Health Campus) and the acute care nurses at Canmore Hospital for their extraordinary care of Celia. Special thanks also go to Father Nathan Siray and Deacon Brian West of Our Lady of the Rockies Parish, the staff of Canmore Home Care and acupuncturist Patti Mayer.
A private service will be held on July 18, 2020 at The Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Rockies in Canmore. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
