Joan’s Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Joan Butler (nee O’Rielly) of St. Mary’s, aged 64 years. She passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at Palliative Care, Miller Center, St. John’s, on July 6, 2020, after a courageous battle with Cancer.
Predeceased by parents: James & Matilda O’Rielly; sisters: Rita (Melvin), Germaine and Ann Marie; parents-in-law Phonse & Amelia Butler; sisters-in-law: Hilda (James), Rose (Charlie), Marion and Maureen and brothers-n-law: Mike (June), Leonard and Donald.
Leaving to mourn, loving husband Kevin, son Colin (Heather), daughter Cassie (Raymond), Nana’s special girl Kendra; brothers: George (Jean), Dennis (Wanda), James (Melody), Brian (Karen), Bernard (Linda), John (Sheila), Michael (Nolleen) and Eugene, sisters Theresa (Benedict) and Karen, sisters-in-law: Helen, Marg (Ed) and Betty, brothers-in-law: Phonse (Betty), Jerome, Ken and Roy and many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and a large group of friends, including her many friends in Yesterday’s Youth 50 Plus Club.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the many doctors, nurses & staff at the H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre for the great care and comfort provided over the years, to Todd & Staff of St. Mary’s Pharmacy, to the staff of St. Mary’s Health Centre, including nurse Ashley Careen and the homecare team in St. Mary’s for everything they have done, to Gibbons’ Ambulance and Funeral Service for their care and support and to the nurses at Palliative Care who made her short visit there as comfortable as possible – She’s resting now, our beautiful angel.
Cremation has taken place. Due to restrictions imposed from the Coronavirus Pandemic a private service will be held at a later time.
