Chris’ Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the final journey of our husband, father, brother and friend on July 3, from his beloved home in Fox Harbour. He was born May 14, 1964 to Christopher and Jean (Trenholm) Pye in Pugwash. Chris’ work ethic came early as a young boy in the blueberry fields. “ if you want anything you have to work hard for it !! ”, and he did. Chris’ early years were also filled with a talent for many sports; baseball, broomball and darts left him with many trophies, memories and good friends. In August of 1989 he married Tracey Jamieson and they built a life together, first in Pugwash River then moving to Fox Harbour in 1995. Two wonderful boys and a John Deer tractor followed, thus completing his joy. Chris spent countless hours building, perfecting and maintaining his property. He knew every blade of grass and every tree. In 1997 Chris became the proprietor of Gutterworks Eavestroughing and spent the next 21 years running up and down ladders. He worked hard and was very proud of his hard work. A diagnoses of ALS in 2016 eventually left him unable to work but through sheer determination and will (and with Caleb’s help) he was on the job site until after he became wheel chair bound. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 30 years Tracey; sons, Caleb (Madison Bennett) and Jonah; sisters, Gloria (Simon) Michelthwaite, Hazelbrook, PE, Sheila Bennett (Mark Pettigrew), Pugwash, Sheena Bennett (John Vance), Pugwash River, Charlene Bennett (Greg St.Peter), Williamswood, brothers, Edward Pye, Dartmouth, Glen Bennett (Melissa Whiffen) Timberlea; several nieces and nephews; and his ever faithful dog Axe, who was always ready for a drive on his four wheeler. While a diagnoses of ALS was devastating we were blessed that it brought many people into our lives and home. Special thanks to Peter and Martha, hospital and VON nurses, community PT and OT and Brent for his comic relief, Connie for her gentle wisdom and all those who visited and communicated with Chris via text as his body and voice weakened. Donations can be made to the ALS Society or the charity of one’s choice. Due to Covid-19 restrictions a service will be announced and held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mundle’s Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the funeral home website at www.mmcfunerals.com
