1944-2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas David Hughes of
Hampton, NB, announces his passing which occurred on July 2, 2020 at
the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born July 13, 1944 to the
late Thomas and Jessie (MacKenzie) Hughes.
For many years, David ran Hughes Home Construction. In later life, he
enjoyed helping out with many aspects of the Hampton Food Basket and
the Hampton Community Garden. He was an active member of St. Alphonsus
Roman Catholic Church as well as St. Paul’s Anglican
Church.
David found love with his first wife Eleanor (O’Connor), to whom he
was married for 41 years. After her passing, he was blessed to find
love a second time with Pamela (Colden, Smith) to whom he was married
for 11 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Pamela; daughter Monica (Jeff)
McHugh; son Matthew (Andrea) Hughes; step-daughters: Bridget Coughlan,
Anna Lake and Kalie Andrews; brothers: James Hughes, Gordon (Heather)
Hughes and Ronald Hughes; sister Betty McIntyre; seventeen
grandchildren; as well as several members of his extended family.
David was predeceased by his first wife Eleanor and brother John
Hughes.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral
Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, and private
services will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with a get
together celebrating David’s life at a later date. Donations
in memory of David may be made to the Hampton Food Basket or to the
memorial of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the
