ARNDT, Irene Rose, nee Kruger, passed quietly into the next life on Friday, January 10, 2020, with Herbert, her husband of 62 years, at her bedside. Missing Irene intensely are daughters Lorna Arndt and Corinne (Wes) Callihoo and cherished granddaughter Danielle Callihoo. Irene also leaves beloved sister Esther (Emil) Krause and sister-in-law Eraine Jansson, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Irene was predeceased by her parents John and Rosina Kruger, brother and sister-in-law Emil and Rose Kruger, nephew Robert Kruger and in-laws Ewald and Danaida Arndt and CR Erland Jansson. Born September 25, 1937, Irene grew up on a farm near Hilda Alberta, moving to Medicine Hat with her parents for high school. She was an active volunteer in her church communities at the local and regional levels and took great pleasure in all of her family’s interests and activities. The family wishes to express gratitude to Dr. Jeffrey Bratvold, and Natashia Dubourt for their kindness and care over many years and to the medical professionals at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, Emergency, ICU and 4West units. The Funeral Service will be held at ST. PAUL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 515 Sprague Way SE, on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ken Edel officiating. A private interment will take place. Memorial gifts in Irene’s memory may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 515 Sprague Way SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1B 4A7.
