Tributes
KENNEDY, Lynn, age 58, of Stittsville
Passed away on 30 June 2020 in Ottawa surrounded by her beloved family.
Lynn was born in Trois-Rivières, Quebec to Isabelle (nee O’Farrell) and John Kennedy on 1 November 1961. She spent her free-range childhood in Trois-Rivières and, like any self-respecting, fiercely independent middle-child, she rebelled and moved to Toronto in her late teens. A few years after the birth of her daughter in 1982, Lynn moved to the Ottawa area with her family. At the time of her passing, she worked at the Ottawa Police Services Board – a job she loved with colleagues she cherished. In tributes made to her before her passing, loved ones described her as immensely caring, determined, witty and sharp.
Living by the mantra of ‘this too shall pass’, she did everything she could to adapt to a very rare neurological disease (transverse myelitis) that continually chipped away at her independence. Those who knew Lynn will tell you that she always knew what she wanted and was a strong advocate for the right to a dignified and peaceful passing. Thanks to supporting physicians and other members of the MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying) program, she was able to find peace on her terms with the complete and unwavering support of her loved ones.
Lynn is preceded in death by her parents and her much-loved (canine) son Fionn.
Lynn is survived by her daughter Courtney who she loved beyond words, her beloved son-in-law Sean Dauphinee, and her treasured grandchildren Lila and Miles. She also leaves behind her sister Gail (Rick Cummings) who has stood by her side, her sister Judy (Dale Cummings) and her nieces Lisa, Kathleen and Erin.
