Obituary of Velma Carol Bent
Velma Carol Bent, 82 of Melanson passed away on June 26, 2020 in her home. She was the daughter of the late Jacob Leslie and the late Lila Mary (Brewster) Jordan, and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Velma was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, DR C.B. Lumsden Branch 74, Wolfville, the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing; loved playing games, bingo and cards. Velma would make the most delicious meals, baked goods and loved pickling and preserving. She would also lend a hand to whoever was in need whenever she was able to help.
She will be remembered as a mother to all.
Velma is survived by daughters Beverley (Floyd) Boulter, O’Leary, PE; Heather (Harvey) Bulger, O’Leary, PE; sons Michael (Susan) Bent, Beaverbank; Robert (Heidi) Bent, Happy Valley, Goosebay, NL; grandchildren Nellie, David, Andrew, Michael, Terry, Amber, April, Teresa, Mary, Dennis, Jordan, Alex, Rylan, Cole and Nolan; great-grandchildren Shilo, Tirese, Josie, Ethan, Bianca, Brittney, Keira, Arianna, Nathan, Hannah, Evan, Ashlyn, Elisha, Nikita and Max.
Besides her parents, Velma was predeceased by her loving husband Charles Richard; son Charles Frederick; grandson Leslie; sisters Florence, Gertrude, Annie, Bessie; brothers Morris, David, Whinton, Auston, Daniel, Walter and Whylie.
A Funeral Service will be held at a later date in the Wolfville Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville Funeral Chapel, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, B4P 1E5 (902-542-4656).
