Max was born in a time when there were more horses than cars. Life was slower then and that allowed Max to take his time with any task he was doing. Born in Darlingford, Manitoba on December 6, 1932, he attended school for grades 1-11 and attained his grade 12 in Pilot Mound, Manitoba. His first job took him to Canada Packers in Crystal City and was soon after diagnosed with Polio in 1952. He later worked for Inter-City Gas in Portage la Prairie and was transferred to Winnipeg in 1968. Max was an avid curler and golfer all his life. He retired from ICG in 1993. Once retired, he and his wife, Flo, spent a lot of time traveling and at their summer home in Boisdale, Cape Breton. Having lived through the Great Depression, Max was instilled with the virtues of hard work, self-reliance and financial discipline. Flo and Max moved to London, Ontario in 2008 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed for his kindness, christian values and generosity. He was Flo’s knight in shining armour. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday afternoon, June 30, 2020 at 2 o’clock at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, London, Ontario. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Mission Services of London.
