Obituary
Peacefully after a long full life, Ellen Elizabeth passed away on January 10, 2020 at the Lions Prairie Manor at the age of 103.
Ellen was predeceased by her husband Irvin in 2001, her two children; Susan Moss in 2012 and Bob Brownridge 2018.
Ellen was the daughter of Arthur and Ellen Smallpiece, pioneers of the Bagot district. Ellen was the last of the family to go predeceased by siblings Annie (Les) Bell, William (Ella), Frederic, Herbert, Edith, Alice (Jack) Sumpton, Mary (Roy) Greenlay, Kitty (Jack) Riach, Mabel (Lloyal) Batters, Ernest and Brother-in-law Don Brownridge.
Ellen leaves daughter in-law Ruth Brownridge, grandsons Kurt (Erin), Douglas (Chelsea), Susan’s son Ryan (Lacey), great grandchildren Raine, Ryland, Presley, Noah and Lachlan, nieces Myrna (Casey) Gowler, Karen Dilabough and nephews Larry Riach, Robbie (Evette) Greenlay, niece Marvey Gordon and their families.
Ellen grew up on the family farm North of Portage, Irvin grew up on a family farm in the next Section. They married in 1942, a few years later they moved out to the Smallpiece farm house where they farmed and raised their children. There they enjoyed hard work and good friends in the Dale area.
Ellen worked off the farm at Rabkins for many years. She enjoyed sewing for her children, and then for the grandsons. Irvin and Ellen enjoyed bowling, belonging to leagues for many years.
Ellen took up golfing later in life and enjoyed travelling in their motorhome and going to Europe to see where her father grew up in Surrey, England.
Interment will take place in the Spring.
We would like to thank the staff at the Lions Prairie Manor. Having resided for six years on Walker road, Parkside and Skyview Ellen thrived with the good care given to her.
