Ida’s Obituary
Ida Irene Dover (nee Wikstrom) was born September 30, 1942 in Kinistino, Saskatchewan to parents John and Marjorie Wikstrom. In 1947, Ida moved with her parents from their farm in Eastbend northwest of Beatty to Kinistino where John opened a jewelry store.
Ida attended Kinistino School until grade 10. She then worked at the telephone office until her marriage to John Dover in 1960. In the late 1960’s Ida re-entered the workforce at the Kinistino Hospital where she work in the kitchen. Her sister Gloria also worked at the hospital as an aide. Ida later worked at the Kinistino Jubilee Lodge for many years as an aide.
Ida was always a strong, determined woman. From 1960 to 1979, Ida gave birth to nine children and helped to raise several grandchildren as well. Other than her children and grandchildren, Ida’s biggest loves were the music of Elvis and coffee. There was always the smell of coffee brewing whenever Ida was around.
Ida was predeceased by parents John (1952) and Marjorie (1978), children Maureen (1963) and Jay (2004) and sister-in-law Dorothy Wikstrom (2019).
Left to mourn her passing are John, sons Cornell (Carol), Darcy, Darby (Megan), Dana (Roxi), daughters Claudia, Natalie, and Trudy; grandchildren (Cornell) Andrew, Wesley and Sydney Dover; grandchild (Natalie) Melissa Folker; grandchildren (Trudy) Samantha Jaksetic (Jordon) and Tasha Stevenson; grandchildren (Darby) Nicole, Morgan, Rylan and Jesse Dover; grandchild (Dana) Lila Dover; and great grandchild (Samantha) Maureen Jaksetic. She is also mourned by siblings John Wikstrom, Judy Kucherhan (Al), Melicent Rogers (Byron), Grace Kruger (Clarence), Glynn Wikstrom (Christine), and Gloria Taylor (Bunny). She also left behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her extended family of friends and coworkers (namely the tremendous staff at the Kinistino Jubilee Lodge).
Memorial contributions in memory of Ida may be directed to the Kinistino Jubilee Lodge Auxiliary.
