Rev. Oliver Patrick Mohan, O.M.I. died in the early morning of June 7, 2020 at Vancouver General Hospital, Vancouver, BC. He was 97.
Fr. Mohan was born June 26, 1922 in Churchtown House, Ardee, County Louth, Ireland. He was ordained in the Congregation of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate on June 29, 1948.
Fr. Mohan is predeceased by his parents John and Margaret (Matthews) Mohan and siblings Maura, Bridie, Lillian, Celia, Thomas Joseph, Massey and Sean. He is survived by many nephews and nieces. Fr. Mohan dearly loved his family and maintained a strong relationship with them throughout his life.
Fr. Mohan’s obediences included assignments in BC – Queen Charlotte Islands, Stewart & Alice; Prince Rupert, Terrace, Prince George, New Westminster and Vancouver. He was Vicar General of Prince George from 1962 – 1974. He then moved to the USA and served as Spiritual Director in Arizona – Cave Creek, Scottsdale and Phoenix. He returned to Vancouver, BC, Canada in 2016.
Due to COVID-19, we must follow the guidelines for gatherings. Private services will be held on Saturday, June 13th, 2020 – Viewing at 9:30 am and followed by Mass at 10:00 am at St. Augustine’s Church, 2028 West 7th Avenue, Vancouver, BC. Interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date in Inchicore, Dublin, Ireland.
