Brian MacNeil
1956-2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brian
MacNeil on June 7th, 2020 at Hospice House Fredericton. Born on April
21st, 1956 he was the son of the late Archibald and Mercedes
(Reynolds) MacNeil.
Brian will be missed by his wife, Dianne MacNeil; daughter
Michelle Rogers (Matt); sons Rory MacNeil (Monique), and Evan MacNeil;
grandchildren Malakai and Emerson; beloved cats Corrie and Calli;
brothers Adrian MacNeil (Joan), Jerry MacNeil (Lynne), Beverly
Bernard-MacNeil, and Johnny MacNeil. Of course, we need to mention
Brian’s extended family, who loved him as their own: Jean
MacKinnon, James MacKinnon, Robert (Marilyn) MacKinnon, Janet (and
niece Victoria) Grady, Karen (Steve) Druken, and Wayne
MacKinnon.
Along with his parents, Brian is predeceased by his sister
Frances MacNeil, and father-in-law Michael MacKinnon.
Brian was a loving husband, father, and grandfather with a
great sense of humor.
He graduated from Cape Breton
University with a business degree in 1977.
He met the love
of his life, Dianne, when he began working at Kmart in 1977, where he
worked until it’s closing in 1992. After Kmart closed, they
moved to Moncton where Brian worked with Purolator until 2009. In 2010
Brian began a new job with Concentrix Tech (formally Minacs). Brian
also volunteered with the Greensborough Subdivision, his home of 23
years, where he took on the role of the Treasurer of Community Sewer
Fees. He loved the Montreal Canadiens, Coronation Street, and the
music of John Denver. All those who knew him would recognize his love
of green tea and that his favorite author was Clive Cussler. He was an
avid early morning walker, and would look forward to his daily walks
with best friend John Fawcett. He is a man who was greatly admired by
all who met him, and he will be greatly missed.
A special thank you goes to the oncology teams at the
Victoria General in Halifax, Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Moncton,
and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Fredericton. Thank you to the
palliative care team in Fredericton, as well as to long time family
doctor Natalie Sheehan who always took really good care of
Brian.
Fr. Charles Udeh will be officiating a private service at St.
Francis of Assisi with a private interment to follow. For those who
wish, donations may be made to Kidney Cancer Canada or Hospice House
Fredericton.
