Otto F. Dunning, WO Ret’d CD
1949-2020
Otto F. Dunning, WO Ret’ d CD, born on September
22nd, 1949 in Summerside, PEI, to Francis and
June (Burt), passed away peacefully at the Prince County Hospital in
Summerside, PE, on June 4th, 2020. He
was 70 years of age.
Otto, known as
Grampie, Dad and Daddy, was born an Islander and was humbled to serve
his Country with the Royal Canadian Air Force when he joined in
1968. He left the Island in 1974, after having met his wife,
Brenda (Kane) with their two young children, to pursue his career in
the military. He was transferred to many Canadian provinces during his
career. He retired in 1994 and they moved back to Kensington, PE,
where they would remain.
His favourite pastime was sitting with family and friends
telling jokes, storytelling, reading and enjoying a glass of
Captain. His quick wit sense of humour kept everyone who
knew him, laughing.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Brenda (Kane),
children Michael (Tina) and Krista (Bob) Murphy, grandchildren Amanda
Dunning, Matthew and Sarah-Beth Murphy, his mother June (Burt) Dunning
and siblings Rena (late Everett) Simmonds, Marlene (Leith) Jollimore,
and Terry (Cindy Foy) and some of the greatest nephews, a niece, aunts
and cousins. Brother-in-law of Judy (Ron Mossman) Kane and
Greg Kane.
Predeceased by his father, Francis Dunning, father-in-law and
mother-in-law, Pelham and Margaret (Ross) Kane.
Resting at Davison Funeral Home Kensington. No
visitation or funeral service by personal request. Interment
and a celebration of life will be held at a later date when gatherings
