Obituary of John A. Reinhardt
John A. Reinhardt – of London, passed away peacefully at his home and on his own terms through Medical Assistance in Dying on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at the age of 67.
Born in Chatham on February 26, 1953, John was the son of the late Bea (Jeffords) and Fred Reinhardt.
Loving father to Derrick John Reinhardt (wife Renee Ribout). Dear brother to Judy Clark (husband Morley) and Barb Reinhardt.
Predeceased by his wife Patricia and daughter Melissa in 1988 as well as his Shih Tzu Lucy in 2018.
Dearly missed by nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, one great-great-niece, an uncle, numerous cousins and friends.
John will be remembered for his laughter, his consideration for others and his bravery. John graduated from the Humber, Westervelt and Fanshawe Colleges, the latter two with Honours. He has lived in Highgate, Chatham, Toronto, Ottawa, Killaloe, Strathroy and Komoka. He enjoyed music, gardening, traveling, baking and parachuting.
John was very active with the Jesse’s Journey, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, the United Church and the Liberal Party.
He was the first Baking King of Highgate Fair, and has given over 75 blood donations.
A Celebration of Life will follow once restrictions are lifted with Rev. Dr. Jeff Crittenden of the Metropolitan United Church officiating. Special thanks to the VON, ParaMed, Dr. Kim, Dr. McLean, Dr. Read, Dr. Boughner and Dr. Kazi.
