Maria Elizabeth’s Obituary
BEATTIE, Maria Elizabeth “Lizz” ~ Age 73, of Truro, Colchester Co., formerly of Kingston, Kings Co., passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020, in QE II Health Sciences Centre, Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born on February 25, 1947, in Middleton, Annapolis Co., she was a daughter of the late Henry S. and Edna M. (Ward) Mapplebeck. Lizz was very proud to have worked as a banker all of her life, wanting to assist all of her clients and going out of her way to help them all as best she could. She had worked for many years for CIBC in both Greenwood and Berwick branches and after retiring, worked at RBC in Berwick. Lizz was a loving daughter, wife, mother and sister to her brothers. She enjoyed many shopping trips to Bangor and Cape Cod with her husband and friends. Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Robert W. “Bob” Beattie; son, R. Sean Beattie, Truro; brother, Robert Mapplebeck, Port Williams; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sister, Eleanor Louise; brothers, Henry St. Clair Jr., William “Bill”, Eric and Murray “Phillip”. A private graveside service will take place in North Kingston Cemetery, with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to ALS Society, Canadian Cancer Society or Parkinson Society of Canada.
