Obituary
James MacTaggart
North Sydney
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of William John James MacTaggart, age 38, on Friday, May 22, 2020.
Born in North Sydney on December 18, 1981, he was the son of Gerard MacTaggart and Mary Almon. James grew up in Georges River, he was a gentle soul who was happiest with nature. He was known for his love of fly fishing and eagerly awaited the season to open. James enjoyed teaching local elementary school children the art of fly fishing. He made life long friends through his years of fishing and cherished his yearly expeditions to Quebec, where he would share his skills and love for the sport with tourists from near and a far. James could be seen on his Yamaha travelling the Georges River road. He had a love for gardening and would gladly share his crop. He was thankful for all the friends he was blessed to have in his life, especially his best friend Jennifer Morrison, who he deeply adored.
Besides his parents, James is survived by his son Dayton, who was his pride and joy, his brother Matthew (Cassie), his two precious nieces Abbi and Lexi, his maternal grandmother Margaret Almon, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Frances and Dontey MacTaggart, maternal grandfather Frank Almon.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions a family visitation and service will be held in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bras d’Or.
