Annette Nettie Lillian Currie Chase 19702020

Annette “Nettie” Lillian Currie (Chase)
1970-2020
It is with unbelievable sadness that we announce the sudden
passing of “Nettie” on May 22, 2020 at the age of
49. She was born November 4, 1970 in Fredericton to Helen
(Marcel) Chase and George Emmerson Chase. She was devoted
mother to Mitchell Charles (Kayla) Currie and Stephanie Anne
Currie. Her pride and joy were her two grandchildren, Jace
and Adalynn Currie.
Nettie is also survived by her older sister Michelle
“Shelley” (Robert) Chase and younger sister Jennifer
Chase. She has two nieces Sara (Ryan) Goguen and Nicole
McCarthy. Also counted among her joys were her great nieces Gracie and
Kaia Goguen. There are many other family relations including
aunts, uncles and cousins who all have a Nettie story to
tell.
Nettie’s love of her family and friends knew no
bounds. She wore her heart on her sleeve with the fact that
if she loved you, it was unconditional and unbreakable. Her
generosity and unselfishness towards others was
immeasurable. She would do anything for anyone, family,
friend and even foe.
The love of children was not only limited to family, but to
all children it seemed. When you say someone had a calling,
childcare was definitely Nettie’s. She loved her
“babies” at the Vanier Co-operative Childcare Centre as if
they were her own. The staff and parents all respected her
ability to sooth any child.
She has had more addresses than Canada Post but her heart and
family were in Upper Gagetown. She loved the outdoors and was always
hunting or fishing. We all knew where we would go if the apocalypse
happened because Nettie would be prepared. She had many
boats in various conditions to float her up and down the Saint John
River. In the summer months you could find her on Grimross
Island camping among family and friends. Her love of the
water was also extended to Grand Manan where she visited often after
living there for many years.
For those investors among us, your stock in certain beverage
and bubble gum companies may plummet as “demand” will dry up
with Nettie’s departure. Also, environmentalists
will be struggling to explain the sudden drop in “emissions”
over the entire Saint John River Valley. There are certain
characteristics that make us unique and she made no bones about
flaunting hers. Each one of us will have many stories to
tell in a celebration of her life at a later date.
Her wings were ready but our hearts were not. We
love you always “Nettle”. Her ashes will be laid to rest at
a graveside service to be held at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, please contribute to the charity of your choice.
