Lynn F. Clipston
1948-2020
It is with deep sadness that we announce
the unexpected death of Lynn Frances Clipston
(née Probert), age 71, of Sackville, New
Brunswick. Lynn passed away suddenly at the Moncton Hospital on
Saturday, May 23, 2020.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, she was the
daughter of the late Ralph and Vivian (Eaton)
Probert.
She attended Elizabeth Ballantyne School
and Montreal West High School before moving to Sackville to attend
Mount Allison University where she met her husband, Wayne Clipston.
She would become a favourite educator in the region, teaching first in
Port Elgin before moving to Salem Elementary School where she would
remain until her retirement in 2002. Lynn would spend a year with
Wayne on their sailboat, navigating the east coast from Cape Cod to
the Bahamas, and summers sailing out of Shediac. She was always an
adventurer, creating many fond memories for family on trips across
Canada as well as in the United States and Europe. Many of her dearest
places, however, were at home – on the marshes walked with
their black Labs, in the garden she coaxed and cultivated, and in all
of the Friday night spots shared with her treasured
friends.
In addition to her husband Wayne of
Sackville, she will be dearly missed by her sister Joanne (David)
McCabe, Charlottetown, PEI, brother Ross (Karen) Probert, Sherwood
Park, AB, sister-in-law Wendy (Peter) McClintock, Ottawa, ON, and
brother-in-law Walter van Domburgh, The Hague, Netherlands. Beloved
aunt of Shauna and Debra McCabe, Cheryl and Ryan Probert, and Lee and
Jesse McClintock, great aunt of Olivia, Willa, Summer and Blake, and
dear cousin to many.
She is predeceased by her parents Ralph
and Vivian Probert, as well as her aunts Ruth (Eaton) Mitchell, Mabel
Probert and Kathleen ‘Kay’ (Probert) Blore, and uncles Douglas Eaton
and John ‘Jack’ Probert.
Arrangements have been entrusted into
the care and supervision of Jones Funeral
Home, 70 Bridge Street. Sackville, NB (506-364-1300).
Cremation has taken place; honouring provincial guidelines, visitation
and services for Lynn will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her
memory will be welcomed by Sackville Memorial Hospital.
