Obituary of Joan Thistle
Norma Joan Thistle
March 23, 1946 – May 24, 2020
It is with a profound sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Joan Thistle (nee Gillette) at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 74. Joan was predeceased by her husband, Malcom Guy Thistle and parents John and Olga Gillette. Leaving to mourn, her daughter, Lisa and son, Grant, sisters Cheryl, Gwen (Wally), Joyce (Eric), and Yvonne (Grant), brothers Reg, Erving (Leona) and Dave (Elena), three grandchildren, Graham, Liam, and Ashley and a vast circle of friends. Joan was passionate about all her endeavours – a gifted teacher, an avid gardener, a talented artist, and a master seamstress. She had an unshakeable faith that uplifted and guided her life. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no visitation and a private family service at Fillatre’s Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Soper officiating. Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff of the palliative care unit for the best of care and compassion.

  1. I am so saddened to hear of Joan’s passing but knowing she is now at peace must offer a degree of comfort, I have spent many hours over the past few months reflecting on our years growing up on Gillette’s Lane and the closeness we shared. God Bless you Lisa , your boys, and Grant . My sincere condolences to Joan’s siblings
    Love Carol
