Darlene Mai Gauthier Tuesday May 19th 2020

After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with heavy hearts filled with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. Darlene left this world peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.
Predeceased by her parents Phyllis Gauthier (nee Hotte) and Gerald Gauthier, and her sister Chantel Gauthier. Cherished mother of James McDowell (Trista), Sarah Scott (Sean), Ben McDowell (Trista), and Kimberley (David). Beloved grandmother to Mackenzie, Madison, Evelyn, Liam, and Ethan. Survived by her sisters Karen and Lynn, and her step-sister Jessica. Special aunt to Crystal, Mikey, and Kasey. Loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Darlene was a lover of the outdoors. She enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and country music. Her laugh was contagious and her heart was pure. She will always be remembered for being a caring, compassionate, thoughtful woman, and for her love of bingo. She will be sadly missed by her loving family, including by her special friend Richard Whissell.
Darlene fought hard until her last breath. She and her family thank her friends and all of the health care workers at Health Sciences North and University Health Network in Toronto who were involved in her care during these times and offered their support.
A service will not be held at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date for friends and family. Donations can be made to the NEO Kids Foundation and the Northern Cancer Foundation. For donations and messages of condolence, www.lougheed.org.
