Obituary of Valerie Gratton
Valerie “Val” Anne Gratton, 77, of Edmonton, Alberta, left us peacefully on May 11th with family by her side.
Val was born to Howard and Mary “Grace” Homan in Killam Alberta. Val spent most of her years as a stay at home mom followed by managing offices for small companies. She loved reading, puzzles, gardening, and spending time with family. Her greatest achievements were her kids and grandchildren. Her feisty nature allowed her several more years after being diagnosed with Scleroderma and Kidney Disease.
Val is preceded in death by her parents Howard and Grace, her brother Howard Homan and niece Debbi Knicely (Spinks).
Val is survived by her son Gordon (Ruth), daughter Shannon (Larry) Keown, sister Dona Spinks, half-brother Geoff Schmidt, sister-in-law Jeanette Homan, grandchildren Mark (Carmen), JoAnne (Adam), Lauriston, Gregory, Shawn, great-grandchildren Jax and Nixon, nieces, nephews and their children, cherished friends Stan and Judy LaFoy.
Special thank you goes to the Hemodialysis Clinic at the St. Marguerite Health Services Centre.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
A graveside celebration of life will be announced for a later date.
