Obituary of Nick Smolski
Nick passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at the age of 87 years. He is survived by his children David (Karina), Jodi (Joe) and their mother Barbara; grandchildren Dusty (Kayle), Kelsey, Josie (Shaun), Katy (Brett) Sophia (Aaron), Shelsy and Kristel Sofia; great-grandchildren Jaxson, Lily, Cohen, and Emerson.
Nick will also be remembered by his sisters and brother, Louise, Katie, Elsie, Ruth, Mary, George, and Marge. He was predeceased by his parents George and Mary and his siblings Luba, Peter, Toni, Alix, Sam, Pete, and John.
Nick was a grader operator for 38 years. After he retired, he worked several summers for Hauser Construction. He enjoyed playing ball in his younger years and then loved to watch David play. He was very handy and could build or fix almost anything. He loved to putter around in his yard and to go to garage sales. The last few years he developed a special friendship with his neighbor, Alben Zak. The two of them would spend many hours drinking coffee, shooting the breeze, and going on little adventures.
Nick was thrilled when the grandchildren started to arrive. He loved to spend time with them and enjoyed going to their sporting and school events. The icing on the cake for him was the birth of his great-grandchildren.
We will miss you Dad/Papa.
