Larry Kirby March 8 1937 May 7 2020

KIRBY: Larry. After a lengthy illness, Larry passed away at the Assiniboine Centre on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 83 years of age. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Marlene; daughter, Wanda and Jim Ready; son, Allan Kirby of Winnipeg; two granddaughters, Krista (Nathan Lobreau), Dayna (Adam Troop); three great grandchildren, Cooper, Ava, and Kylie Lobreau. He is also survived by his mother, Kathleen Kirby of Elkhorn, MB who is 102 years old; sister-in-law, Judy (Paul Stanley) of Winnipeg, MB; niece, Linda Drewe and nephew, Colin Drewe. Larry was predeceased by his father, Alex and brother, Raymond. Larry worked as an electrician for 37 years with Hudbay Mining in Flin Flon and Snow Lake. He enjoyed every moment of early retirement, spending the summers camping and fishing at Reed Lake and the winters in Alamo, TX. After 56 years in Snow Lake we moved to Brandon to be closer to family. Cremation has taken place and respecting Larry’s wishes there will be no funeral service. The family will cherish his memory privately. If desired, donations in memory of Larry may be made to Western Manitoba Cancer Centre, 150 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB, R7A 2B3. “Fisherman’s Prayer” God grant that I may live, To fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast, I then most humble pray… When in the Lord’s safe landing net, I’m peacefully asleep, That in His mercy I be judged, as good Enough to keep.
