Obituary
JOHNSTON, WILDA – It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Wilda Merle Johnston, age 89 of Sarnia on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Marshall Gowland Manor. She was born on January 1st, 1931 (She was the 1st New Year baby in Sarnia) and raised at 248 Cobden St. and went to SCITS. She was employed as a housekeeper at from the ages of 42 to 62 at Marshall Gowland Manor. She lived with Max and Wanda for over 26 years before going to Trillium Villa and then Marshall Gowland Manor. She leaves behind her daughters Wanda Courtis and Janine Bourassa grandchildren Maxwell and Aaron and her brother Raymond Johnston (Lise). She was predeceased by her parents Nathan and Olive Johnston, her son Michael (1953), sisters Sylvia Pash and June Kocher. A big thank you goes out to all the nurses who cared for Wilda at MGM and Trillium, the VON’s her cared for her at her home in Corunna. A special thanks to Karen Baxter-VON, Ruth Ann Spicer our neighbor and friend Vicki Laythorpe for all their help and longtime friend Ellen Murphy. She was well loved by everyone that met her, had a great sense humour and was very charitable to everyone. Thank you mom for teaching me (Wanda) to be kind, loving, charitable, to find fun in everything I do and to be non-judgmental towards every person, because everybody has a story and I never know when Jesus might be standing before me! Mom loved music, sang like an angel and loved her piano that she self-taught herself on. Charitable donations made to the Sarnia Humane Society are appreciated.
