Doucette, Rick, of Yarmouth passed away on May 7, 2020, in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born August 12, 1950, in Springhaven, Yarmouth Co., he was a son to the late Laurie and Rosalie (Melanson) Doucette. Rick worked for many years in the fashion industry, working at Jackson’s in Yarmouth with Lyman Jackson, also having his own clothing shop, R.D. Fashions. He worked at Nelson’s Furniture for 13 years and The Meadows Home for Special Care for ten years in environmental services. Rick was a kind, gentle, people person, and those people were very important to him. He would always stop, chat and say hello to the people he would meet. Rick enjoyed fishing, playing pool, snooker, carpentry, his daily visits to Perky Owl and the Saturday mornings spent at the Farmers Market solving the problems of the world. He is survived the love of his life, Heather Hatfield, Yarmouth; sons, Mark (Kim Emmons) Doucette, Ottawa, Ont.; Shannon (Paula Gray) Doucette, Brockville, Ont.; stepdaughters, Megan (Geoff MacDonald) Hatfield, Yarmouth; Keltie (Jeff Bain) Hatfield, Yarmouth; brother Wayne Doucette, Dartmouth; sisters, Marion Saulnier, Pinkney’s Point; Helen Doucette, Yarmouth; Carol Purdy, Fredericton; grandchildren whom he adored, Cole and Ethan Champion; Anya d’Entremont; Ashlyn Doucette and Paige Doucette; mother-in-law, Florence Goodwin; sisters-in-law, Crystal (Peter) Hilton; Shelley (Jeff Mason) Goodwin; several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his sister Betty; brothers, Kenny, Raymond, Jim; niece, Kathy. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a private memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2020, from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. Shawn Kehoe officiating.
