Killah, Alexander McLagan
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Alexander “Alex” “Sandy” McLagan Killah on Tuesday, April 28th, 2020 at Health Sciences North in Sudbury at the age of 84. Born February 10th, 1936 to parents Alexander Finnie Killah and Isabella Killah (McLagan). Beloved husband of Selma “Sam” of 47 years. Dear brother of John predeceased and Bruce (Betty-Jane). Proud father of Brenda Zawierzeniec (Nick) and Brian (Roxanne). Cherished grandfather of Brad (Natasha Marlow), Derek, Sarah, Adam, Justin (Molly Gaertner), Chris Zawierzeniec (Alicia Santerre) and Matt Zawierzeniec (Sarah Belisle). Great Grandfather of Blair, Aria and Hendrix with the next expected in July. He will be sadly missed by brothers in law Al and Carl, nieces and nephews and cousins in Scotland. Alex retired in 1992 from INCO as the General Foreman, Transportation after 38 years of respected service having started as an Electrical Apprentice. A caring man of faith that believed in lending a helping hand, he volunteered for many organizations including long term service as a Serving Elder with Calvin Presbyterian Church and as the Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76. Many individuals and groups were recipients of Alex’s helping hand using his fix-it skills, as a driver or whatever was needed. A passionate Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan, he could often be seen near the glass watching his grandchildren play hockey. He enjoyed times with the family, special family times were spent around Dad’s/Grandpa’s pool with the perfect barbeques. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing things and of course had a passion for vehicles, gaining the reputation for his shiny vehicles, including their undercarriages. The family would like to thank his PSW’s, nurses and doctors at Health Sciences North for the excellent care. Donations to Health Sciences North Foundation Cardiac Unit, Calvin Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there will be no funeral visitation or service at this time. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 1114 Auger Ave., Sudbury with a reception to follow and inurnment at the Civic Cemetery Field of Honour. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home. For donations or messages of condolence, www.lougheed.org
