Nicholson, Robert Tait – Pugwash, Our Laddie has gone! “ Scotty, Nick, Robbie” died on April 23, 2020, at the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Pugwash, at the age of 86. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, 16 of March, 1934, he was the son of Robert Tait Nicholson and Elizabeth Margaret (nee Clarke) of Edinburgh. He was conscripted into the R.A.F. and later joined the R.C.A.F., serving 30 years after immigrating to Canada. He leaves to grieve, his wife of 58 years, Winnifred Darlene (nee Brown) and his children, Caitlin (Stephen), Oakville, Domhnull (Francine), Edmonton, his grandson, Robert and his dear sister, Rosemary Elizabeth of Kent, England; many sweet in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. He was a wonderful, smart, bright and compassionate man with a dry sense of humor to go along with his Scottish accent that never went away, even after 60 years in Canada. In his younger days he was a member of MENSA until he thought it wasn’t worth the membership money; always the tight fisted Scott. He was a big city boy growing up in Edinburgh and Glasgow, but surprisingly enough he was really content on the deck in Pugwash for the last 20 years. He said “you can even surprise yoursel”. We’re gonna miss you laddie. Due to the pandemic there will be a gathering of family and friends at his home in Pugwash when it’s safe to do so. We will also take this opportunity to thank the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital nursing staff for their lovely compassionate care of our dear Scotty, and special thanks to Dr. Blaikie for all things.
