COLLINGS, George “Sonny” – Age 86, passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. Born in Saulnierville Station, he was a son of the late John R. and Delphine (Muise) Collings. Sonny ran his own body shop and was a car painter for most of his life. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was also a well-known musician in the Clare area and abroad.
He is survived by sister, Lorette “Lucky” Marr; children, Dave (Anne), and Delores “Dodi” Hatfield; grandchildren, Amie (Andy) Hatfield, Travis and Ashley (Nathan) Collings; great grandchildren, Graham and Madelyn Hatfield, Haley and Ashton Collings. Sonny also leaves behind a special friend, Yvonne Saulnier.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Ashford); sister, Eleanor “Girlie” Collings; son-in-law, Larry Hatfield; grandson, David Hatfield; great grandson, Hayden Goodwin.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Meteghan Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 pandemic, a public funeral service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Radio CIFA or to the Nova Scotia SPCA.
