Villanueva was born in Catigbian, Bohol, Philippines on September 22, 1954 and passed away on December 12, 2019 after a long illness. Villanueva grew up in Bohol and was the 4th child of Pascual and Canuta Maglajos. She was a graduate of the University of Bohol, Bachelor of Chemical Engineering. She worked in Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong before coming to Canada in 1995 to work as a nanny. For the past 10 years Villanueva was employed as a Sterile Processing Technician at Royal University Hospital. Villanueva was a kind, loving person with a big heart always willing to give herself to those who needed her help. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Villanueva is survived by her loving husband Michael; step-children Jackie, Christel and Wade; mother Canuta Maglajos; brothers Elmer (Jiji), Eduardo (Apen); sisters Rosalia Cabudbud (Oren), Cornelia Timbal (Dory), Stella Tadle (Franky), and Ma.Beth Maglajos; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Pascual Maglajos; and brothers Temeteo Maglahus, Celso Maglajos, Romeo Maglajos and Pascual Jr. Maglajos. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Parish (3339 Centennial Dr.) in Saskatoon, followed by a celebration of life. A special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital for their kind and compassionate care of Villanueva. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Close to Home Campaign (1702-20th St. W., Saskatoon, SK S7M 0Z9).
