Obituary for
Victor Szautner
A Dad leaves his mark in the world through the love he gives his children.
On November 29, 2019, Victor Szautner passed away in his sleep at Mayerthorpe Healthcare Centre at the age of 78 years old.
Born November 14, 1941, to Rupert and Caroline Szautner, Vic grew up on the family farm in Muenster, Saskatchewan. He and his wife, Roselyn married in 1965 and moved to Alberta the following year and eventually settled in Spruce Grove in 1971, where they raised their three children.
Vic spent the majority of his construction career framing homes in the area and became well known for both his speed with a crib axe and ability with a chain saw. He was a very gifted man and was not only able to fix, build or created anything but also had a innate ability to problem solve, always thinking ten steps ahead,
He was a kind and generous man whose infectious smile would brighten the day of those he encountered. His mischievous side from youth never left him, and he played as hard as he worked. Summers were spent at the lake with his children, camping, fishing and waterskiing; winters on snowmobiles and ice fishing.
At age 65, he retired and channeled his zest for life into dancing, fishing and playing pool as well as tinkering in his garage or crafting wooden bowls. His Fry’s Beach “family” made a point to regularly stop by and visit with him and his loss will be acutely felt in the community.
He will be deeply mourned and lovingly remembered by his three children, Rhonda, Vicki and Darrol; as well as his son-in-law, Randy and granddaughter, Julien. He is survived by his brothers, Mike, Erv and Nick; and sisters, Caroline and Rosemary.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2020 at Isle Lake. Please contact Darrol Szautner at dc-framing@hotmail.com in May for details.
