Vanessa’s Obituary
O’BRIEN, Vanessa Lorraine – age 63, Yarmouth, passed away peacefully at home and surrounded by family on Friday, November 29, 2019 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born September 22, 1956 in Windsor, NS, she was a daughter of Reginald and Frances (Brown) O’Brien, Yarmouth. She was a retired nurse, having also operated a successful cleaning business and having also worked as a chef. Vanessa will certainly be remembered for her quick wit and awesome sense of humour, but she will also be remembered by those closest to her as a fighter, a selfless woman of great courage who never complained in the face of adversity and illness. She loved writing poetry (having won several contests over the years), animals, her Red Rose tea (half tea and half milk), baking, sunsets, the ocean and watching MASH and Big Bang Theory. Aside from her parents, Reg and Frances, she is survived by her loving and devoted children, Shawn Colquhoun, Amy (Kevin) and Lisa (Mikey), all from Yarmouth, along with her grand fur-babies, Teddy, Mr. Thor, Bud and Petunia and her companion, Jamie Muise. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. A memorial service will be held in the Spring of 2020 with interment in the Chebogue Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Yarmouth SPCA.
