TURNER, NORMA

NORMA TURNER
The kindest, sweetest of all angels departed from this earth on December 6, 2019. Norma Turner was born in Raymond, Alberta 88 years ago on June 6, 1931. She grew up in Raymond within the loving embrace of the Ronda and Lauretta Dahl family. As she reached the gates of Heaven, Norma was greeted enthusiastically by her parents Ronda and Lauretta Dahl, her brothers Mark and Eugene Dahl and her sisters Margaret (Leishman), Zelma (Low), Janet (Zobrist)and Fern (Hicken). Also there to greet her were granddaughters Miranda Hicken and Tabitha Stepple, as well as great grandson Parker Turner-Colling. Doug and Janet Alston were among the throng awaiting Norma, but standing at the front of the line of those awaiting her arrival, with tears of joy streaming down his face, was her eternal companion Lawrence Fredrick Turner.
Left behind on earth to miss and mourn Norma are her five children Doug (Kathy) Turner, Sharon (Max) Wendorff, Renae Stepple, Bruce (Wendy) Turner, and David (Julia) Turner, her 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren, as well as her sister Diane Dudley.
Norma was a longtime resident of Raymond and Lethbridge where she was loved by everyone who had the good fortune to know her. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and actively served the Lord in her many and varied ward and stake callings in Primary, Sunday School, Young Woman’s, Relief Society and as a full time missionary in the Halifax, Canada Mission with her husband Lawrence.
Norma was employed for many years in the office at the Canadian Western Natural Gas Company in Raymond. Additionally, she and Lawrence operated the Waterton Lakes National Park golf course as well as the Raymond Golf Course.
Norma is famous for her kindness to all, her sweet disposition, her desire to serve others, her sense of humour and her delicious homemade pies!
Waterton has always been a very special place to Norma and the Dahl family and extended family. She had many wonderful memories of time spent there with her family at the cabin. On her second to last day of life here on earth, Norma was able to enjoy some time at Waterton with two of her children.
The Turner family wish to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Prairie Ridge Good Samaritan Society, as well as Dr. Eric Baker and hospital staff for the care given to Norma the last few years of her life.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, COBBLESTONE CHAPEL in Raymond, Alberta. (27 Cobblestone Lane, Raymond). Friends are welcome to meet with the family prior to the service from 10:00 to 10:45 A.M.
