Peacefully, with family by her side, Ruth passed away on December 19th at the Teck Pioneer Residence in her 87th year.
Ruth was born and raised in Kirkland Lake. She attended Queen Elizabeth school and KLCVI. After graduation, she worked at Lindfors Dairy until she married Wayne whom she met on a blind date. Her family was her strength and greatest joy. She taught her children and grandchildren how to appreciate living at the original Rantala homestead on Round Lake and to enjoy the outdoors. The whole family went skiing together for years at Raven Mountain.
She will be deeply missed by her children Lynda (Blaine) Clowater of Kirkland Lake, sons James (Kirkland Lake) and Daniel (Vancouver), grandchildren Drew (Kayleigh) and Alyssa Doxsee, Jordan Clowater, great-granddaughter Haidyn Doxsee, daughter-in-law Christine all of Kirkland Lake. She is survived by her sister Esther Holmes, of Barrie and brother Erick.
Ruth is predeceased by her parents Karle and Alina Rantala, brother Roy, her son John (2015) and husband Wayne (2019).
The family would like to extend our deep appreciation to the staff at both Extendicare and Teck Pioneer Residence for their kindness and excellent care. Although she was only a resident for a short lengths of time she was grateful for all your help. She never complained.
Mom was always, always positive and found the bright side in every situation. And we are positive that Mom and Dad are dancing together again forever.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A family memorial will take place in the spring when Ruth and Wayne will be laid to rest together.
