August 27, 1940 – December 18, 2019

Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, December 18, at the Palliative Care Unit, Leonard A. Miller Centre after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer, Ronald Joseph Power, age 79 years. Predeceased by his parents Patrick and Margaret (Carew) Power. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 57 ½ years Louise (Barrett); three daughters Sharon (Mike Philpott), Wanda (Brian Galway) and Brenda (Mike Carew); one son Mike; three grandchildren Chris Power, Justin and Jessica Galway; two great-grandchildren Alex and Chloe Power (and their mother Michelle); one brother Harry Power and his wife Janet, two nieces Tina and Wendy Power; lifelong friends Tom and Margaret Carew, as well as other relatives and friends. Ron was a 39 year employee (retired) with Avalon Telephone, Newfoundland Telephone and Bell Aliant. Special thanks also to Dr. Siddiqui, the staff of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre and the Palliative Care Unit at the Leonard A. Miller Centre and Pete Bassett, Ron’s homecare worker of the past 2 years, for his excellent care. No visitation by family’s request. Funeral Service to be held from Caul’s Chapel, LeMarchant Road, on Saturday, December 21 at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s memory to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.
