Obituary of Ralph Alexandar Askew
RALPH ALEXANDER ASKEW
February 26, 1932 – December 8, 2019
On December 8, 2019, at the LHSC-Victoria Hospital, Ralph Alexander Askew passed away peacefully at the age of 87. Devoted and loving husband of Shirley Mae Askew (Forrest), entering their 65th year of marriage. He is the very proud and dear father of Mark (Brenda), and Douglas. Predeceased by his infant son, Forrest Michael. Cherished grandfather of Christopher (Shannon), Derek (Elizabeth), Amy (Ben), and Morgan. Admired by his great-grandchildren, Paige, Ben, Owen, Layla, Lucy and Hendrix. Predeceased by his parents, brother, Frank and brother-in-law, Jerry White. Survived by his sister, Mary, and sister-in-law, Barbara, niece, Anne (Perry) and nephews, David (Meri), Jeffrey (Kerri), Norman (Rhonda), and Andrew. Ralph exemplified service to his country and his community throughout his life, proudly serving in the RCAF from 1952-1957, and was the Fire Chief at the London Airport for 35 years. Ralph’s many interests included beekeeping, volunteering with the Air Cadets, serving on the Woodland Cemetery Board of Directors, and a 50 year member of the Moose Lodge. Special thanks to all the physicians and nursing staff that cared for Ralph during his stay at the LHSC-Victoria Hospital. In keeping with Ralph’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Ralph’s life will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 472 Richmond Street, London, ON. Reception to follow. Internment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
