Queenie’s Obituary
FULLER, Queenie Eva Annis – Kemptville, Yarmouth Co., passed away Friday, December 13, 2019, at Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in Hebron, Yarmouth County, on October 31, 1929, she was the eldest daughter of Reverend Frederick C. and Eva (Hatfield) Burnett. After graduating from Yarmouth Academy, she taught school in Yarmouth County for a year before entering the Yarmouth Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated with an R.N. designation for both the provinces of Nova Scotia and Quebec. She and her beloved husband of 56 years, Mac, lived in Montreal where she worked at the Royal Victoria Maternity Hospital and the Reddy Memorial Hospital as a thoroughly professional and dedicated nurse while he completed his studies at Sir George Williams College (now Concordia University). Upon their return to Nova Scotia, they lived in various areas of the province where she volunteered in many positions, including secretary of the Baddeck Home and School Association and as a nurse at the Yarmouth Well Women’s Clinic. She was a devoted wife and mother and was a member of the Brooklyn United Baptist Church, the Kemptville Women’s Institute, the N.S. Greenhouse Grower’s Association, the Professional Plant Growers (B.P.I.), the Royal Horticultural Society, and with the Ladies’ Auxiliary of both the Baddeck and Kemptville Volunteer Fire Departments. While living in Kemptville, she became a bedding plant grower and along with Mac, operated a plant nursery, which resulted in several trips to the United Kingdom to continue her education in this field. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm “Mac” G. Fuller; her oldest son, Malcolm G. Fuller Jr.; half-brother John Burnett; half-sister Lily Gray; sister Dorothy Mood; brothers Reverend Frederick Burnett Jr., Reginald Burnett, and Dr. Ralph Burnett; and one grandchild. She is survived by sons Reginald (Elaine), Middle River, Cape Breton; Thomas (Rosie) and William (Denise), both of Kemptville; grandchildren Shauna, Janice, Bhreagh, Kylea, Albert, Andrew, Laura and Sarah, along with great-grandchildren Anna and Bronwen. Also surviving is a sister, Constance (Ronald) Fredette; sister-in-law, Viola Larkin, and many nieces and nephews, including Lila and Robert Zwicker and Coral and Mark Fuller who were all a great help to Queenie. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, Reverend Robert Gates officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Hatfield Memorial Cemetery, East Kemptville.
