t is with great sadness that the family of Muriel Alice Naas, 100 of Lunenburg announces her passing on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg.
Born in Northwest, Muriel was the daughter of the late Stanley and Laura(Neal) Dares.
Muriel graduated from high school at the Lunenburg Academy in 1935 and then attended Normal Teachers College in Truro, graduating in 1938. She went to teach school in a one room schoolhouse for six years. In 1948 she graduated from secretarial school and worked in the secretarial field until 1959. During that time she worked for the Department of National Defense from 1944-1947. Muriel was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Lunenburg.
Muriel is survived by daughters, Laurel (Mike) MacMaster, Halifax;Marina (Wayne) Nauss, Centre and grandchildren, Daniel (Adrianne) and Michael Nauss, great grandson, Walter Thomas Nauss and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, sisters, Hilda, Elvena,Wilma, Gladys and Lela and brothers, Moyle, Forest and Everett.
A graveside committal service to celebrate Muriel’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Rev. Matthew Lee, officiating. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, Lunenburg.
In lieu flowers memorial donations may be made to Diabetic Association or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
