Obituary of Mona Lenora Hawboldt
Hawboldt, Mona Lenora, 95 of the Northumberland Veterans Unit, Pictou formerly of Trenton passed away December 23, 2019 in the Veterans Unit.
Born in Leister, England she was a daughter of the late Fred and Doris(Grant)Trevarthen.
She was a resident of the Veterans Unit in Pictou for the past 5 and a half years having previously resided in Trenton since June of 1946. She was a member of the First United Church in Trenton, as well as a member and past President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34, New Glasgow and also the Auxilliary. She was a member of the Nova Scotia War Brides Association and the Overseas Club
In 1981 she received the LMS Award. She joined the British Army in 1940 with the ATS attached to the Royal Artillery 490 Mixed Heavy Anti Air Craft Battery until she was discharged in August of 1945.
She is survived by a daughter Ann Gerrior(Bob), Pictou Landing; sons: Robert(Sharon), Pictou Landing; Burton(Rhonda), Pictou Landing; grandchildren: Shawna Paget, Brooks, Alberta; Nathan Gerrior, Edmonton, Alberta; Robert Gerrior, Brooks, Alberta; Melissa(Warren)Hawboldt, Victoria, BC; Kristan(Jake)Curley, Linacy; Leanne(Charles)Kehoe, Pictou Landing; Jillian(Kasper)Vockeroth, Maple Creek, Sask; great-grandchildren: Graysen, Kenna, Kemper, William, Wyatt, Kaiden, Claire, Elliott and Linden, a brother, Fred Trevarthen and family, Leister, England; a sister-in-law Grace Hawboldt, Scotsburn; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Burton P. Hawboldt, a son Wayne ”Oscar”Hawboldt, mother and father-in- law Charles and Lizzie Hawboldt, brothers and sisters-in-law Sylvia Trevarthen, Laura(Ross)MacDonald, Minnie Peckham, Clarence, Gordon, Charles, Weldon, John and Eldon Hawboldt, Harriett Marshall and Doris Spillet.
Her remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral home, New Glasgow for visiting from 2-4 and 7-9pm Friday from where funeral services will be held 11am Saturday with Fergie MacKay presiding. Cremation to follow with burial of ashes at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens at a later date.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34 New Glasgow will meet at the funeral home at 6:30pm Friday to conduct their service of remembrance.
A reception will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34 New Glasgow following the funeral services.
