Obituary for
Michael Nino Botich
Botich, Michael:
It is with heavy hearts Mike’s family announces his peaceful passing at University Gates on Monday, December 2, 2019 at the age of 86. Mike was born in 1933 in Croatia and emigrated to Canada in 1956. Loving husband to Wendy for 54 years. Dear brother-in-law to Leslie (Joyce) Heaton, Glenys Girouard, and Linda Heaton. Very special uncle to Debbie and Norm Pomerleau and Kreso Botic. Mike was employed for many years by Kraus Carpets. Wendy and Mike were known as “walkers” and for years would walk all over the city for 3 to 4 hours on a daily basis stopping for coffee breaks at McDonald’s. Some people were surprised that they actually owned a car. However, due to health reasons with Mike, Wendy would walk alone with her trusty radio. A thanks to all the staff at University Gates for all their care, and kindness and a special shout out to PSW Cathy on the Wright Wing who treated Mike like one of her family. As per Mike’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener, at a later date.
Arrangements entrusted to Henry Walser Funeral Home, 519-749-8467. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society or The War Amps – Child Amputee Program would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
